Blogging Helps The Mind Stay Active

Keeping your brain fit is no more than giving it something to work out with. Physical exercise helps the total body but we can help the brain out by keeping it busy with learning and expressing our thoughts. Blogging helps the mind stay active because you are learning as you are expressing your thoughts on a subject while giving your brain a workout.

What Works The Brain?

When we read or do anything that requires our brain to process things this gives our brain a workout. This will help us to keep our brain sharp as we age.

If we get stuck in the same routines in our lives this will cause our brains to become stagnant and there is not much work for our brain to do regularly.

One Thing That Will Help

Over this past year, I have started a few websites and they all are different niches. This means that my blogging for each site has me researching information giving my brain some play time.

I am giving my brain a workout not only through reading and gaining information for a blog post but I am also writing about what I have researched which causes me to write out what I have learned.

I found this out in an article from If you click on the link you can read where journaling will help you focus your mind and clear it as well. Handwriting is said to help sharpen the mind in this article.

  1. Nice article. I came across your post and I agree blogging and journaling help keep your mind active and healthy. Thank you for your insight!

    1. You are welcome. I have an auntie that is 88 years old and she still has the same job she had when I was a kid. When you talk to her over the phone you would never know she was that age. The same thing is happening to her. She keeps her mind busy and it is keeping her mind alert.

  2. Great article! I have been blogging for around 8 months now and I must admit that my mind feels a lot sharper than it once was.

What used to take a few days, I can now write a 1500+ article in about 5 hours. I also feel as though my mind can process information much quicker than it once did.

  3. Creating a blog sounds like a great way to release some mental stress, and focus on some specific interests. Being engaged with whatever it is you’re doing is extremely important for mental stimulation.

How hard is it to start your own blog or article based website? Does it take a lot of time, or can it be done relatively easily/quickly?

    1. It is not hard at all. Especially if you start with Wealthy Affiliate. They teach you how to get started the right way and after that, it is just putting in the work and blogging becomes pretty easy. The more you write the faster you will notice you are getting at creating posts. I would say I got in the groove around the 4-month mark.

  4. Ronnie,

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Having your own website and blogging certainly, stimulate, exercise the brain, keep us alert, engaged while earning some cash.

I love the lead-in to getting a free membership at Wealthy Affiliate to start you on your way. A lovely win-win scenario. A well-done post indeed!

  5. What an interesting take on reading and writing, I love that you are giving it a health spin rather than just a “money money money!!!” spin. Let’s face it, not all blogs become moneymakers and some are merely passion projects. Or, later, people learn how to monetize their passion projects. This gives everyone incentive to start writing, even only if it keeps the ol’ knoggin healthy in old age.

    1. And you are so right. Blogging should go beyond just making money. The first thing is you have to love it and the money will either follow or it won’t. I think if you go into it strictly for the money chances are if it doesn’t produce fast enough you will get discouraged. That is why I look at it in more aspects than one. Plus I like keeping busy doing things.

  6. I think it is important to keep the mind active through a number of activities. Blogging is definitely a great way to this. It can also have monetary benefits as you’ve mentioned. Great post and keep publishing quality content.

    1. Thanks, I try to write what I think would help people see the good or the bad in something. This way they can make a thoughtful decision on a topic I might be conveying.

  7. You make some very good points here. I definitely agree that a blog can be very good to keep the mind active.

There is a lot of hard work and education that goes into a good blog post and doing that research and putting it in your own words definitely stimulates the mind. Thanks for sharing.
